Good book for the shipwreck lover's library, but it does not go into too much detail though about each wreck. I am sure some of the shipwrecks have very little details out there. If you are interested in early shipwrecks, such as the 1733 or 1715 fleets, they will not be covered in detail in this book. I thought they might be, then I read the title and was like "dough". If the shipwreck is early enough to have its picture taken, ad it happened in Florida, it might be in this book. If the camera wasn't invented yet, and the ship wrecked in Florida, it will not be in this book! The book is a great way to learn a little Florida history and how different times must have been back then.
Barney has prepared a great primer for divers and non-divers alike seeking history and facts about Florida shipwrecks. Very informative, lots of basic information. This book is a great starting point for researching Florida's many wrecks. The only drawback is the lack of GPS locations. But as a diver, I understand why these weren't included.
I ordered this book for my fiance who is a boat captain. We originally saw the book for sale at the St. Augustine Lighthouse gift shop, but at a high price. I purchased it on Amazon at a fraction of the cost and received it in great condition. I have already been told repeatedly how wonderful the book is and how much he enjoys it. Thank you!
