Jefferson Barracks was opened in the early 1820's. Many of our West Point Cadets spent time at Jefferson Barracks after graduating. Many North and South Generals during the Civil War spent time there. Excellent old pictures of Jefferson Barracks. A National Cemetery is also here. Very well written from its opening through WWII.
My father during WWII and his brothers was drafted and inducted from JB and processed out. Been told a lot of stories about JB and grew up around there. Was impressed as to what I didn’t know.
Actual photographs and stories from the 19th and 20th Centuries give a comprehensive and entertaining look into historic Jefferson Barracks. If you are interested in United States Military History this is a must read for you. Go forth and enjoy.
